2010 NRL Season Preview - St George Illawarra Dragons

I could not help but publish the below response by a long suffering Dragons fan to recent guest posts. See below.

by P. Chipstone

As the kick off for 2010 fast approaches rugby league is on everyone's lips. The pants get tighter as our groin stirs to life with the expectations of this great game of ours. Questions play tricks with our hearts and minds.

Can the 'bred not bought' dogs invest in a steel cage for their fans? (Most of who probably have their licence plates displayed in the right hand column of this page...)

Will the dragons finally jump that final hurdle?
Will our city hallways and fire exits remain faeces free?
Will parra do anything worthwhile in the first 14 weeks?
Can south's barge their way into the semis like a runaway freight train?
Will more egotistical self proclaimed 'superstars' turn their backs on our great game for the mighty dollar?
Will we conquer this rabid beast that emerges in the west? (I dare not print the acronym)
So many questions will be answered in due time. Some, not so soon.

The mighty dragons prepare for another onslaught of high expectation from long time heartbroken fans. Like moi. With Trent merrin set to fill Justin Poore’s boots the dragons had a boot camp style pre season on the NSW south coast. Putting in some cow tipping as well, Jamie Soward’s strike rate was a measly 46%.

Hopefully with the experience gained from the back end of 2009 will the relatively young dragons (Michael Weymann aka horse is only 25) be able to strike at the right time or will they do what is expected by every non saint’s fan in the nation, nay in the WORLD?

My hopes, prayers and dreams are that we finally overcome this beast of burden and hold high the mighty prize that has eluded us for 30 years. Dare we dream of a perfect world? Well... my message to all red and white soldiers out there is YES WE CAN...

  2. sts fans are like climate change skeptics, they are able to hold a position contrary to all available evidence

Sts do not have the nerve to win a finals series and Bennet can only win silverware with >50% of his players are QLD origin representatives
