2010 NRL season preview - Penrith Panthers

As always, the Panthers have big forwards and fast backs - the problem in recent years has been their hooker and halfback.

Luke Priddis and Craig Gower were the last successful combination at the foot of the mountains, and won them a premiership in 2003. I don't think Kevin Kingston and Luke Walsh will give the same hope to Panther fans.

Although they are both very talented, it’s always a difficult combination to develop. However, there are bigger questions to answer for panthers fans.

When will the Jarrod Sammut experiment end? - Coach Matt Elliott is ready to send him to the NSW Cup and judging by Jarrod’s profile picture on the Panthers website, a pub team might be where he belongs.

                                                        A brave move Jarrod.

Is this the year Wade Graham announces himself as a future star? He appears to have the skills.
Will Michael Gordon get the accolades he deserves for being one of the best wingers in the game? I hope so. A phenomenal goal kicker as well.
How many more NRL clubs can Travis Burns play for? I say 10.

Will their fans get so drunk at home games that they think above is the mythical Penrith Panther? Quite possibly.
Will petrol get cheaper than 70c a litre? If so it's a travesty because he is the Panthers key. If he gets injured, the season is over.
Tip - they make the eight on the back of workhorse trio: Nathan Smith, Luke Lewis and The House.
X Factor - Wade Graham.
Premiership odds - $21.00 - always worth a punt if you are from Mt Druitt and there is nothing better to do.

  1. You must be smoking crack if you seriously think the panthers are going to get anywhere near the top 8. They have the attention span of an ADD kid of a 15 year old Penrith single mum. Extremely hot and cold. Me thinks you have been spending too much time at Panthers club on Fri / Sat night sinking vodka red bull after smoking ice in the carpark....P.Panthers, no chance....

  2. st george showed that you can win the minor premiership without a recognosed halves, hooker combination

big forwards and quick backs is enough to get you into the top eight, given some early form and injuries i think the panthers can get closer to the top four
